Welcome To Tlingit Haida Regional Housing Authority!

Affordable Housing Opportunities for all Southeast Alaskans

Since 1973 Tlingit-Haida Regional Housing Authority has been providing quality affordable housing to the people of Southeast Alaska. We partner with 12 communities, service 823 homes, and offer a variety of housing opportunities for all residents of Southeast Alaska. Initially, THRHA was primarily an Indian housing authority providing services to Native American Housing Self Determination Act (NAHASDA) eligible clients. As part of our current strategic plan we have developed several public housing programs that allow THRHA to offer a wider variety of housing opportunities for all Southeast Alaskans.

  • Homeownership Opportunities
  • Rent-to-Own
  • Family Rentals
  • Transitional, temporary emergency housing
  • Senior Independent Living
  • Home Loans
  • Down-payment assistance
  • Home Repair
  • Project & Home Construction

By summer 2007, KIC & THRHA will be welcoming 24 families into single, zero-lot, and multifamily units for rent or rent-to-own at the top of Carlanna Street in Ketchikan Alaska. Additional programs and housing developments are underway as well here in the Juneau-Douglas area. We'll be release some exciting information about that this year as development progresses.

From the President/CEO:

Affordable housing opportunities and solutions for Southeast Alaskans!

We are making dreams come true by revitalizing families and communities throughout Southeast Alaska."

From the President/CEO:

Like the framing hammer, Tlingit-Haida Regional Housing Authority is the right tool designed to improve housing conditions in Southeast Alaska. We have strategically developed an organization that provides the best quality homes and services, a one-stop-shop offering expertise in developing, building, financing and maintaining affordable housing. Over the past several years, we have been monitoring the inevitable decline in federal funding and have made plans to become more self-sufficient in order to minimize its effects on delivery of our services.

In this year's report, you will see that we have effectively transitioned from a primarily governmentally dependant organization to being more enterprising and independent. This transition is essential for the preservation of our mission; providing housing opportunities and solutions for all Southeast Alaskans. We offer our Tribal and business partners an expert team of housing professionals and an excellent construction crew. THRHA is one of the few housing authorities to manage all phases of housing development including building our own homes with our own crews, and this has proven to be very successful.

Last year in addition to the 41 new families at our Glacier Village Subdivision in Juneau, we purchases an additional 56 fair-market apartments that help ensure housing affordability by providing a rental subsidy program for Native families. We also purchased a Tribal House that will provide temporary housing for families in transition. Our management team has approached this transition with an out-of-the-box thinking. We have aggressively pursued investment opportunities and business partners that will help provide economic stability, and increase our asset base for the continuation of programs and services.

Please join me in celebrating our many successes.
