On Monday, April 26, Dr. Blake Kazama, President and CEO of the Tlingit-Haida Regional Housing Authority will present “Building Business Capacity” at the 2010 Annual Conference of the Pacific Northwest Regional Council of the National Association of Housing & Redevelopment. THRHA has been recognized nationwide for its innovative business practices. Dr. Kazama and his staff will share the concepts for developing business opportunities to sustain housing programs and services. “Our presentation is especially timely with recent news of Indian Housing budget cuts for 2011,” said Dr. Kazama. “We must act now and create alliance that will help preserve funding.”
Additionally, the Keynote Speaker on Monday, April 26, is Dr. Vaughn Grisham, Ph.D., a professor at the University of Mississippi and an expert in community and economic development. Dr. Grisham will provide the broad framework for how to change your community for the better, and Dr. Kazama will give you the specifics of how he has done it. Dr. Kazama will be available after the session (3:00 – 4:30 PM) to answer questions and discuss particular issues related to Indian Housing.
