Energy Cents Program
The purpose of THRHA- Energy Conservation Program Energy Cents is to assess the high energy costs experienced by our Southeast communities in: Craig, Douglas, Haines, Hydaburg, Juneau, Kasaan, Ketchikan, Klawock, Petersburg, Saxman, and Wrangell with emphasis in the extremely high energy cost communities of Angoon, Hoonah, Kake, and Yakutat. Our main objective will be to reduce household energy consumption through energy conservation education and installing of energy upgrades.
This project will complete home energy usage assessments and provide energy conservation education and energy use monitoring for 400 single family homes. This program will also host energy fairs in communities that want our support in delivering such an event. These Energy Fairs will be a community driven event supported by THRHA in hopes that by addressing energy issues on a community level will bring awareness to energy conservation education and energy conservation efficiency.
This project is funded through a Tribal Department of Energy grant and is intended to be complimentary to the weatherization program.
