What we do...

"Develops Annual Housing Plan and applies for funding..."

(Left to Right: LaVonne Garvey, Ricardo Worl, Steve Bennett, Jocelyn Ramirez and Veronica Hoyle were not available)

The Community and Planning Department has been renamed to Tribal Serives to reflect Tlingit-Haida Regional Housing Authority's commitment to our tribal partners. The new manager of Tribal Services , Ricardo Worl (see in image above) is also the manager for our Mortgage Loan Department. Ricardo's professional background and long-term involvement with Southeast Alaska communities gives him the experience to work effectively with our tribal partners.

Tribal Services provides a variety of housing planning and program services to tribal governments. Working directly with each of our 12 tribal partners, Tribal Services staff develops each tribe's annual Indian Housing Plan and applies for funding. Our Grant Writer LaVonne Garvey, writes and administers the $7 Million Indian Housing Block grant/NAHASDA for the 12 tribes in Southeast Alaska. She also defines program policies, procedures & regulations ensuring compliance to the guidelines. Our Tribal Services Technician Cassandra Ritter-Days, coordinates and communicates between Tlingit-Haida Regional Housing Authority and the tribal communities. She performs or directs site visits to our clients within each community by staff from our field offices and acts as first contact. Lala also assists in grant development performing research for needs assessment. Our NAHASDA Coordinator Steve Bennett provides the U.S. HUD with prior year financial activities for the IHP/APR which provides both previous year's expenditures and next year's budgetary estimations for required grant funding.

As the core source for funding provisions that enable our programs and services, the Tribal Services Department plays an essential role in the functions of Tlingit-Haida Regional Housing Authority.
